Welcome to LockIN. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the LockIN mobile application and our associated web dashboard at evolve.ng/lockin.
2. Information We Collect
We collect and process the following categories of information to provide and improve our services:
- Account Information: When you register or sign in (including via Google OAuth), we collect your email address, full name, and profile details. This information is securely handled by our backend services powered by Appwrite.
- App Usage Statistics: To enable LockIN's core focus routines and app blocking capabilities, our app monitors package usage statistics on your Android device (using the UsageStatsManager API). This data is used solely to identify if you are opening a distracting app during an active focus session. We do not store your continuous browsing history, nor do we track keystrokes or screen contents.
- Device & Connection Information: We may collect basic network state details to sync stats and verify credentials securely with our Appwrite server.
3. How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To verify your identity and manage your user account.
- To enforce your configured focus routines and block distraction applications when your focus timer is active.
- To track and display your productivity progress (focus minutes, completed tasks, streaks).
- To sync parental control settings (allowing managed devices to sync blocking routines).
4. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
Your account and stats data are stored securely on our Appwrite servers. We use industry-standard security protocols to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
OAuth 2.0 (Google Login): If you authenticate using Google, your login credentials are processed directly by Google. LockIN only receives an authentication token and basic profile info (email and name).
No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data, app usage statistics, or device logs with any third parties or advertisers.
5. Background Services and Permissions
LockIN requires specific permissions to operate its core features:
- Usage Stats Access: Essential for checking which app is currently in the foreground to prevent access to blocked apps.
- System Alert Window (Overlay): Used to display the focus blocker overlay screen over distracting apps.
- Foreground Service: Keeps the app blocker service active during your scheduled focus sessions.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have full control over your data. You may request to delete your account and all associated history at any time.
To request deletion, you can use the account settings inside the LockIN app, or submit an external request on our web portal at evolve.ng/lockin/delete-account. All data will be permanently wiped from our Appwrite database within 48 hours of request.
